One topic, explained in full, paid for by a disclosed link
This site is one desk in a series of narrow information sites. Each one takes a single mechanism in online gambling and explains it properly - the rules, the arithmetic, the paperwork and the traps - with no rankings, no tips and no promises.
How this site is funded
By a single partner link, rel="sponsored noopener", disclosed in a band near the top of every page. If a reader opens a partner account through it, this site may be paid a referral fee, at no additional cost to the reader. There is no second revenue stream: no advertising, no sponsored content, no data sale and no paid placement anywhere in this series.
What this desk will not publish
- No rankings and no "best" anything. Not of operators, not of games, not of maximum wins. Ranking is how commission-based sites confuse a reader, and it is permanently out of scope.
- No picks, tips or predictions. Nothing here forecasts an outcome, and no page suggests a bet is more likely to win because of a ceiling.
- No routes around a rule. Understanding a cap so it can be read before rather than after is the point. Arranging bets to obtain more than one cap is not, and is not explained here.
- No reproduction of a named company's clause. Figures differ by operator, product and jurisdiction and change by publication; the mechanism is the durable thing.
- No invented facts. Where a number varies between products, the page says it varies and labels the figure illustrative rather than quoting one company as if it were the norm.
Where it sits in the series
This desk is one of a group of sites that each own a single topic. The neighbours that matter most here are the restriction desk (the operator's ceiling on a stake, which is a decision about a person), the agreement desk (how a term is formed, stamped and varied), the settlement desk (how a bet is graded and paid before any ceiling is applied) and the value desk (whether a price is worth taking at all). Between them they cover the price, the person, the paper and the payout; this one covers the limit on the payout.
Who this is for
Adults dealing with a real question, usually mid-friction: a return that was paid at less than the price shown, a slip that printed a number nobody will pay, a game advertising a maximum a reader cannot find in its own help panel, a prize arriving as a schedule rather than a sum. It is written for the reader who wants the mechanism rather than a marketing page, and who would rather check the arithmetic than take a number on trust. It is not written for anyone under 18, for anyone looking for picks or systems, or for anyone looking for a way around a term, an exclusion or a limit.
